Shield 9mm - Fireman - 02-20-2015
does anyone have personal experience with a Shield 9 mm? I know all reviews are good, but do any of you guys have any good or bad things to say. I was looking at making this my summer carry.

I heard their was a recall on the trigger for the Shield...
I have fired one at the range this summer, I thought it was an excellent hand gun. Easy to sight, easy for the second round to stay on target. I thought it was very accurate and comfortable to hold. I probably put 80 rounds through it, 4 different brands and had no feed or ejection issues. The controls were good. I have nothing negative to say about it. Since the gun wasn't mine, I didn't think to ask what it costs. If you are looking for a CCW weapon, I'd add this to the short list. The one I fired fired didn't have a manual safety, but I understand it does come with one if you want.

I have one and really like it. It's very easy to conceal, accurate and eats anything. It's the version with the safety, I also use a Tagua IWB which I purchased from RDA. I picked it from Dale's for around 425.00 out the door a few years ago. If your looking for a small single stack the Shield is the way to go

I purchased my Ruger LC9S for $365 out the door. I thought it was quite the bargain. But, I do like the Shield a lot. When I purchase the Ruger I had not fired one like it. I had purchased the Ruger before I tried the Shield. Both are IMHO excellent CCW weapons. I think the Shield is easier to field strip (you need to punch out a small pin on the Ruger). I also think the Shield just has that feel of quality.

I like the Ruger LC9S a lot, it's striker fired, has a great trigger, and is really a good firearm. The only downside is field stripping it. It has a knock out pin (which isn't hard), but I always have this nagging feeling one day I will loose it. So far the Ruger has been good (I have a little over a thousand rounds through it. I prefer the 7 rd magazines (there are extened 9 rd's available). Being single stack it certainly is comfy to wear. I think for $65 less it is a contender too... But I am a cheap skate. The Shield has been out longer. Both are excellent pistols in my opinion. I'd try holding them and seeing which you liked better.

I have a 9Shield and a Glock 19. I do like the shield..good accuracy and easy to handle.

I'd say the Shield is great choice. The Glock or XD are as well. But the Ruger was really cheap. And I am a cheapskate.

I dont really care for the shield. Nor do i really care for any of S&W pistols (revolvers are top notch!) I want the sig 290 or sig 938. But i guess I always want things that are out of the normal lol

Of course i have the 290, sweet gun. I've shot a friends M&P9mm, and it was very nice. Never shot the shield.

Thanks all for your input. I decided on the XD Mod 2. I get to go have fun at the range tomorrow with it. I will be trying it with Winchester Train And Defend ammo.

The Mod 2 shoots very smooth. With the Train and Defend ammo at 147 grains felt like shooting a 115 grain. The recoil felt the same as my FNS 9mm. If you don't mind it being a little wider than other sub compacts I would recommend trying it for your CCW.

I love my FNS-9 and I absolutely love the Ruger LC9S. I don't mind the magazine disconnect and I prefer the manual safety. I've read some rave reviews of the LC9S Pro. The Ruger is thin, shoots well, and has been absolutely reliable. Great trigger, and easy on the wallet.
