People have gotten lazy. Most vote and have now clue for who they are voting. I went yesterday, and I voted for ONE person. Didn't know anybody else.
And now with some states forcing people to register to vote....

Some people vote for whoever promises them the most "free" stuff. The Obama phone and Obama cash morons in Cleveland being prime examples.

I think that most voters are uninformed and vote by emotion and "hand out" factors promised, not the grand scheme of what's best. It's always been this way since our country started. The real issue is laziness, too much media speculation and accountability of our politicians. I just voted in Gurnee for local leadership. I got the mailer a couple weeks ago and decided to do a little research and made my pick as best I could -- these are folks I've really never heard of. I also attended my first Gurnee Village Board meeting. Very boring, but still enlightening at the same time.

Government has become far to large. Examine a ballot from the 1800's. There were not that many choices on it. As government has grown we now have far to many 'offices' to vote for. We didn't back then, and everyone knew who was responsible for what.
Do we really need to vote for State Treasurer, Controller, Attorney General, Secretary of State? Even at the Federal level these are appointed positions. Do we really need Judges on a ballot? Do we get to vote for them at the Federal level?
We have far to many departments REGULATING law as opposed to the Legislative branch doing it's job. Get back to the Constitution! Shrink government.
