THE BIG QUESTION? - nickdemo - 03-03-2016

so, I want to buy a good rifle at a price range from 600 to 800 and I have narrowed it down to 2 rifles

the Remington 700 (a variant of it)
or the Howa Hogue

quality difference?
which would be the better buy?

What do you plan to use the rifle for? Hunting, target shooting, long range? What caliber are you thinking? Both are excellent options with many price points and options. The Remington will have more aftermarket options.

Hunting and targets, would like to see how i can do from a far. Im going to get it in 308. One of the things that has my attention is some of the aftermarket upgrades for the remington

Both are excellent choices.... I'd probably lean to the Remington 700 (assuming 24" barrel). Better aftermarket choices. A little lighter. I like the bolt of the Howa better.
But for hunting weight matters. For range work either are fine options.

The base rifle is just the beginning. Then comes glass and a sling, and if it is for long range a bipod. Which one has the better trigger? Which one stock fits you better? Also important questions. For hunting I use a Ruger gunsite scout rifle. So many great bolt guns today! Ask the experts at RDA what they think, too!

I've taken to using my AK for hunting lately but I also have a 700 in .308. It's a nice rifle.
