After 30 of service, I'd say the pistol provided great service period, no matter the brand. Parts do wear out and break. The cost of $150 for all that is being provided is reasonable. Age, I find is less of determinate factor as is number of rounds put through it. I suppose I have been lucky in that I have never worn out a firearm.
I know some old grizzled veterans that swear by their Colt 1911. I recently had a old guy, had to be in his 80's next to me at McMiller. I was shooting my Remington 1911 R1 Enchanced and he asked if he try it. I was only to happy to have him try. He easily put all 8 rounds in the center at 15 yds. Said, to me nice shooter, but will it last as long as a Colt. My only response was 'time will tell'. He told me about his time in Korea, and how he relied on his 1911 a lot as many times where he was they ran out of rifle ammo.
