There are a few options to do what you would like to do. If you're talking about the actual barrel, I would not recommend just polishing it to a bare, shiny finish as that will leave the metal unprotected from corrosion and pitting, it should have some type of protective finish on it. If you'd like to bring the pistol in, we could get an accurate estimate and show you examples of ways we can refinish it. Duracoat is one option in which you can select a custom color/pattern, Parkerizing and re-blueing are others options. Just bring it in, unloaded, during business hours and we should be able to help you do exactly what you would like.
