i have always used an acog or red dot with my AR in the Army. i have never fired from a scoped rifle before. went shooting with my nephew and his remington 770, i know it cant be the best quality for the price paid but i could not get a good sight with the scope, it was really hard to focus. i have looked through scopes before not attached to rifles and i was able to get a good sight picture......that being said is it operator error or not so good scope or both? any tip would be helpful

What is the exact scope model? Is the eye relief reasonable? At what range were you trying to focus? Is the scope new? Is it mounted correctly? So many variables... What were the weather conditions? Was it wet? Did it appear fogged up? When you dial in the elevation do the knobs feel right?

Also, depending on the range and weather conditions, mirage may be a factor.
