Im trying to decide which 18 barrel to go with. A Danniel Defense 18 inch chf(https://danieldefense.com/18-5-56mm-s2wr...arrel.html). I love daniel defense, but i think???? I will get better groups out of the wilson combat 18 inch (http://shopwilsoncombat.com/Match-Grade-...6SPR18-18/)
I belive the dd will last longer, and I am a fanboy of daniel defense. But the reviews on the wilson combat say different. Im shooting 100 to 300 yards and want close to moa or sub moa groups. What do you guys think?

Being new to rifles, I have no input. But since I plan on building an AR some time next year when I am done with the Red Dot classes, I have a question.

I know SPR stands for Special Purpose Rifle. I also know on its face that has absolutely no meaning whatsoever. What is the "special purpose"?

Its a design off the mk12. Spr(mk12) was created as a long range precision semi automatic rifle. You can find originals on second hand sale for 3 to 4 grand in surplus. They are really meant for precision long range.

I think I would prefer 1:7 twist version. It will handle heavier bullets (think 77 gr.) at range better. But that is just IMHO. I think barrel life would be more effected by the type of ammo being used regularly. I think barrel length, platform stability, ammo choice and optics would matter more.

If I were to get an AR I would go for a 1:7 twist as well.

I believe you you will not go wrong with either manufacture. What bullet will you be shooting primarily?

It all comes down to bullet weight and speed as to which rate of twist will work best. Most ammo MFRs have ballistic tables available that will show you their performance graphed over barrels of different lengths and rates of twist. As far as longevity is concerned, that's generally also a factor of ammo and cleaning habits. So, if you really like the Daniel Defense, go with it. Odds are, you won't be disappointed. Let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks,
David

I talked to wilson on the phone and bought this http://shopwilsoncombat.com/Wilson-Comba...SS20NF-18/

Now its time to find a gunsmith with the quickest turn around time.
