We are fast becoming the slaves to big government our founding fathers feared. They never intended for the state to seize the work of one to give to another. We are truly going down the Marxist path.

THANK GOD for the SECOND AMENDMENT!

And as long as people let the media into their lives to control their voting we will forever have this issue. Too many people out there taking the words of CBS, MSNBC, CNN, FOX, The View and others as gospel.

Would anyone support a Federally run program for debates? Example, since the Gov manages the airwaves, they can mandate "free" air time w/o commercials, ads, etc. The moderator might be someone like a local judge, a group of chosen "average" individuals to collect and pose the questions. Each candidate would answer the same question round robin style. They would stick to the issues and there would be no grand standing. This seems ideal, but it will never happen, as "people" aren't interested in truth, just hype. Who would watch a boring debate w/o commercials and all the super-saturated Red and Blue coloring on stage?

No, I want to government to get out of EVERYTHING.

We don't need the government to mandate that.

Good point. Less government is good.....however, as long as the media controls what people hear, no changes will be made.

Here is a little story for you to chew on.

The year is 1980. The election is in full swing.

I am living in Dixon, IL., Reagan's hometown.

It was announced that one of the networks was doing a story on Dixon on the evening broadcast, and we didn't know which and at what point in the broadcast. (There was no internet then, BTW, and some people still got some of their news from WEEKLY publications. Imagine news a week old and still interesting).

So, a number of us gathered at my parents house and we watched each broadcast by flipping through all three every couple minutes. (imaging only one T.V. in a house and no such thing as CABLE).

As we flipped it was interesting that all three networks ran the same first story. Then it was odd that all three ran the same second story. Then it was strange that all three ran the same third story. Then by the time the broadcasts were done 30 minutes later, we stood in a weird silence trying to comprehend that all three independent networks ran the same stories, in the same order, for the same length of time with the same information and commentary.

I have never watched an entire network news broadcast since.

I've had the opportunity to do that a lot when i was in Canada. The only difference, the Canadian news is actully objective. We would get the real story on our channels and I'd get to watch what the American channels fed you all. I've lived here now for 20 years and don't belive the crap that is fed to us.

I truly believe that the media should be the forth branch of the Government, (so we know what the first 3 are doing to us), but not be controlled and be part of the government.

WAKE UP AMERICA!!

I can only pray that these people will wake up. It is like they hay all been hypnotized by the media and the Gov pay checks. At work i always leave subtle remarks as to what reall is going on. I have to be careful due to my poistion.
