I was listening to an episode (3-19-17) and was interested in the discussion about being in Condition 0 thru 2 (round in chamber) and anything else was really a waste.

I was wanting to call the show on this, but it was not live anymore. They implied that unless you carried 0-2, you'd really be risking your life -- Unloaded chamber = Unloaded gun; equals "you don't know your gun" or "afraid of your gun".

I disagree that carrying in Condition 3 is a waste. I know my gun, am not afraid of it, but understand the risks associated with complacency in everyday carry, that I'd personally prefer 3. There's a higher risk of an accidental discharge than actually being mugged. Now, if I feel I'm in a bad neighborhood, or am in a strange environment, I'd set to probably Condition 2 or higher.

Argument around what if bad guy has one arm in grip or you are shot in the arm and you can't rack your slide. They didn't mention that you can rack off the side of your leg or waste. I've practiced this and it works.

I guess this is talk show "entertainment", with certain attitudes and opinions. Too bad they took a hard stance on what they consider the "only" way to carry. I'd appreciate some time explaining the conditions and let the carrier decide.

When I first got my CCW back in 1998 we had to show our marksmanship, shoot opposite of norm (right vs left) as if you were in a gun fight and your shooting hand/arm was shot (injured), rack off of your leg (hip or stomach), and do your best to reload with the injured arm or no arm. It was quite the class back then and now all CCW's take is a paper exam.

Depending on where I am, I will switch up from C2 and C3. Most of the time I carry C3 and that is what I mainly practice at the range, pulling out of the holster and immediately racking. I don't carry C2 very often, especially where I live. Now put me in Eugene or Portland Oregon and C1/C0 is the way I ride. Now for me C1/C0 is the same since I carry Glocks.
