Nothing new in the article... Hollow Point creates a bigger hole... a .45ACP hollow point is larger still, along with more force behind it. What is recognized is that 124/115 gr 9mm (and +P) is an ineffective round for ball ammo. The same argument remains, in that .40SW & .45ACP Hollow points make much bigger holes than 9mm hollow points. The gist of all this is that size matters. So the trade off remains, more lethal rounds v. more rounds. Sort of like the .308 v. 5.56 debate...

Practice and training are the key...

It also depends what the shooter can control. Hits with a 9mm are better than misses with a .40 or .45. My daughter is a great shot with a 9.

That's what makes the 1911 such a genius work of art. A well built 1911 is easier to handle and easier to keep accurate than a poly 9, IMHO.

Yes, and a quality 1911 is a good weapon. Many have lasted the test of time, although they have more parts, and thus more potential points of failure. They are heavier, but that gives them stability. I love my 1911.

I also like to say that a shooter should shoot what they can shoot. Not everyone can handle a .40 S&W, 10mm, or .45 ACP. That doesn't change the fact that they're more effective than a 9mm, but if you can't handle the round it won't do you any good. My wife is visibly in pain when she tries shooting my USP 40 but is fine with a 9mm or a .380. Any weapon is better than no weapon if a situation presents itself and one is needed.

I definitely agree. I'm stuck between my two right now for two reasons, the 9 is easier to shoot, but also has more than double the capacity. So I've been trying that out lately to see how I like it. The other thing is I want to try and get in on some IDPA matches, and from the little over been reading I think the XDm would serve the purpose a little better. But we shall see!
