I went to bass and was planning to shoot a few slugs out of my a300. The first shot went off, and than immediately a whit smoke was coming out from under the foreend. I took the gun down and it looked ok. The front gasket was full if lubricant/cleaner. The guy there said it seemed like the gas burned off the extra lubricant maybe. That hasn't happens before. But I mostly just shoot trap and skeet. I think this may have something to do with the larger pressure with the slug

Sounds like oil in the system burned off to me too. Slugs can have more pressure but they will bulge the barrel first. If the barrel is OK than most likely there was a bunch of lube that had collected in the wrong place (possibly a result of how the gun was stored/transported) and it got vaporized. On my 1187's, I try not to lube the outside of the mag tube with anything but a dry lube like Archoil 2400 (Tungsten Disulfide) just for this reason.

I was lubbing the gasket. It just seems like metal touches metal there should be oil. But I have seen where they say that isn't what you want to do. Thanks fir the confirmation!
