I'm not sure what your point is here. He's a Democrat, nobody is denying it, and that doesn't make him anti-gun (see: Sheriff David Clarke of Milwaukee). He also turned away the Democrats when they asked him to run for Governor of California in 1990 so he hasn't been caught as a hypocrite. He has never come out as anti-gun. He was not on the NRA's anti-gunner list when they still had it. His wife was obviously ok with him playing Republicans because he played a Conservative Chief Justice on a show called First Monday in 2002 with Joe Mantegna (I show I watched and liked).

I'm sorry but I don't see the opposing viewpoint here. He may think Ronnie is an idiot but that doesn't make him anti-gun.

Ronald Reagan was a democrat. It was his time as president of the screen actors guild when he saw first hand how the soviets were trying to manipulate our society through infiltration and control of of the movie industry (something we now see was not only real, but quite successful). Reagan himself was approached by them. This is what opened his eyes and turned him to the republican party and forged his understanding of the evil empire they were.

This is what Margaret Thatcher was referring to when she said the difference between Bush (Sr.) and Reagan is Bush was given what conservatism he had (which was not much) and Reagan came to it himself. Bush was a purveyor and Reagan was a believer.

It is a common tactic among democrats to attack the person when they cannot attack the ideas. That is what this is, nothing more.

And remember Garner was from a generation where democrats were for the common man, not today where they are for tyranny and big government.

JFK and Garner both would be republicans today if you took away the clinging to history the blue collar dems do and just look at life as it is now.

While my Dad was alive it was all we could do to TRY and convince him that the the Dems of today are not the Dems of yesterday. It was the same in my grandparents eyes. So, if there was a Dem on the ticket, regardless of anything else, it was the Dem that got the vote.

Sadly the more we move away from the '50s we see how correct Joseph McCarthy was. It is a shame that people today do not understand how big of a threat this still is. All you have to do to see it is look at the number of people who to this day vilify McCarthy, and it's not just from the left. Sunday night they showed a documentary about the Academy Awards on TCM and they showed one woman's speech about how she was blacklisted for being a card carrying communist. I got so angry listening to her whining. I told my wife that not only should she had been black listed but she should have been arrested for being a traitor. It's people like that woman and the hippies that are responsible for the state our country is in today. I'd like to add that my grandfather was a life long Democrat but he knew the difference between a Democrat and a commie. He voted Republican for President since Carter v Reagan until his death in 2007.
